HABERSHAM, COUNTY – Habersham County candidates considering entering the May, 2022 General Primary Election must do so before qualifying ends on March 11th at noon. There are two seats open on the Habersham County Board of Commissioners. Three seats are open on the Board of Education. The City of Clarkesville’s Post 5 of the City Council is up for grabs as well.
The Board of Education’s Russell Nelson (I), Kristie Dover (I), and Joey Duncan (I) are all qualified for re-election in Districts 3, 4, and 5, respectively.
Commissioners Dustin Mealor (I) of District 2 and Jimmy Tench (I) of District 3 are also qualified for re-election.
All 5 candidates are running un-opposed.
A Special Election is being held in Clarkesville following the death of council member Steven Ward and vacancy of Post 5 .
