Tragic crash takes the life of five, including the wife and children of a Hall County Deputy

HABERSHAM COUNTY, Ga. – A fiery crash that took place on Ga Hwy. 365 on Sunday, July 16, left five people dead, three of which were the wife and two children of Hall County Deputy Patrick Neil Holtzclaw.

According to a release from Georgia Law Enforcement, the driver of a Corvette, now identified as Mitchell Boggs, 58, of Marietta, and his passenger were driving southbound in the right lane with a speed in excess of 150 miles-per-hour.

Holtzclaw’s wife, 29-year-old Avonlea Holtzclaw, was traveling in her Ford Explorer with their two children, five-year-old Maddie Cate and six-year-old Colt, when she attempted to cross the southbound side and turned onto Mt. Zion Road.

Boggs’s vehicle then t-boned the Ford Explorer, causing both vehicles to crash and catch on fire.

This tragedy has caused many different agency to rally together to support Deputy Holtzclaw after losing his wife and children.

The Georgia Law Enforcement Organization has created a donation page to support Deputy Holtzclaw in this difficult time.

“The Georgia Law Enforcement Organization is a 501c3 nonprofit, and all donations are eligible as tax deductions. Unlike other “for-profit” crowdfunding platforms, we do not take a percentage of the donations, and they will go directly to Deputy Holtzclaw.”
