Habersham County drug investigations yield 3 arrests

PRESS RELEASE – A Demorest man was arrested Wednesday on drug and weapons charges.
Billy Ray Henson, 46, is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and two counts of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony.
Seized during the arrest were a half ounce of methamphetamine and two pistols.
The arrest followed a two-week investigation and involved the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.
The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit and Cornelia Police Department assisted in the arrest.
On Thursday, a weeks-long investigation into illegal drug activity led to the arrest of a Mt. Airy man.
Toby Whitfield, 50, was arrested Thursday afternoon at a home on Keller Road in Mt. Airy.
Whitfield is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of methamphetamine.
Seized at the time of the arrest were two ounces of methamphetamine and four ounces of marijuana.
Also arrested at the Keller Road address was Kimberly Bryson, who is charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Thursday’s arrest of Whitfield culminated an investigation by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office. The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit assisted in the arrest.
